A local Maryland family gets help from the popular ABC program, Extreme Makeover Home Edition.
Felicia Jackson is a single mother trying to raise 14 children, ranging in age from four to 18. Ten of the children were her sister's. Jackson made the promise the promise to her dying sister that she'd keep all 10 of her nieces and nephews after she passed.
Working as a security guard at the mall, Jackson said she just couldn't pay the bills. The family had been essentially homeless for months staying in a hotel. She said she was told that if she didn't find a suitable home soon, the county would have to look at splitting up the family.
"Its been a struggle. Lots of struggles, but you know, our love kept us going," Jackson said.
That's when ABC's Extreme Makeover Home Edition and Classic Homes of Maryland jumped in.
The show's Senior Producer Diane Korman said everything would be done to help the family, "She made a promise and now they need our help to make a house and all be together."
What will happen in Poolesville over the next six days will turn the formerly foreclosed property into a great family home.
"To watch a house go up in seven days, to watch a family come home, to be part of something like that, its a phenomenal thing," said designer Paul DiMeo.
