(Sports Network) - Asjha Jones netted a game-high 20 points and Amber Holt chipped in 19 points and eight rebounds, as the Connecticut Sun pulled away for an 85-68 win over conference rival Detroit.
Rookie Kerri Gardin logged 14 points in limited minutes off the bench by hitting all three of her attempts from behind the arc, as the Sun made 42.9 percent from the field for their second straight win. Lindsay Whalen posted 10 points, seven boards and six assists.
Cheryl Ford recorded a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds, but the Shock could not extend their winning streak to four games. Deanna Nolan and Katie Smith led the way with 17 and 16 points, respectively, but the duo combined to hit just 10-of-27 from the field.

Both teams came into the game sporting identical 10-3 records to lead the Eastern Conference, but it was Connecticut that came out strong with a 22-16 first quarter lead.
The Sun held a seven-point lead heading into the final stanza, but pulled away by outscoring the Shock, 20-10. Connecticut's three-point shooting (12-for-27) and rebounding edge (42-32) helped the club overcome 20 turnovers in taking the early edge for conference supremacy.
