HYATTSVILLE, Md. - Early Monday morning, a fire station and fire department administration building were both locked down while police searched for four suspects on the loose in Landover Hills.

Police had chased four robbery suspects to 68th Avenue and Annapolis Road, where the suspects' vehicle crashed and they fled on foot into the community.

Fire/EMS Station #830 is located at that intersection. Given the proximity of the search, it was put in lockdown just before 7:30 a.m. For the duration of the lockdown firefighters and paramedics were kept inside the station.

Only one call for that area came in during that time, and it was handled by a unit from another station.

The Cranford-Graves Fire Service Building, 6820 Webster Street, located 1 block away from the Fire/EMS Station, was also locked down as police activity moved in that direction. Due to the early hour, only a handful of employees were affected.

The lockdown lasted for about ten minutes, after which the station resumed normal dispatch operations. Station personnel and those in the fire service building remained inside as the police search continued.
