WASHINGTON - A water main break early Friday was complicated when repair crews hit a gas line.
Stanton Road SE is closed in both directions between from Alabama Avenue to Bruce Place as crews from Washington Gas and the D.C. Water and Sewer Authority hurry to repair the damage.
A Washington Gas representative said that the gas line damage was very minor and could be quickly repaired without needing to evacuate the area.
A WASA representative said that the stretch of road where repairs are ongoing will likely be closed for the entire day on Friday. He also noted that the road is a major bus route and that Metro has been notified of the need to detour buses.
He also added that residents in the area would be without water until the line is fixed, and that the entire section of water pipe will have to be replaced.
