(Sports Network) - The Houston Dynamo take an 11-game undefeated run into Sunday night's match at the Los Angeles Galaxy, the first of four straight road matches.
Houston (8-2-4), which hasn't lost since April 4, has eight wins in its last 10 games to compile the top record in MLS. The Dynamo lead the Western Conference by one point over Chivas USA.
In addition to being unbeaten at home, Houston is 3-2-1 on the road and has not lost at The Home Depot Center in league play against the Galaxy (2-3-9).
The Dynamo extended their unbeaten streak last week with a 1-1 tie against Real Salt Lake, getting the tying goal in the 89th minute from Brian Ching.
"It feels good not so much to score, but to help the team and to help the team get a point," said Ching, who entered as a substitute after halftime. "We deserved points, and I thought we were the better team, especially when they went down a man.
"We kept our heads in the game and we finished off a good fight and a good comeback."
Houston's Brad Davis said the performance was an "off night," but "you have to credit our guys" for earning the draw.
"This team prides itself on working hard and not quitting until the whistle blows," Davis said. "I think we showed why we are such a good team. You know we are going to keep attacking and giving it our best until the whistle blows."
Houston has continued its strong play without midfielder Ricardo Clark, who is with the United States for the FIFA Confederations Cup. Clark will be absent on Sunday against because the U.S. plays Brazil in the tournament final.
Clark will return next month, but Ching will rejoin the U.S. for the Gold Cup, along with midfielder Stuart Holden. Defender Andrew Hainault will also be with Canada during the Gold Cup.
Houston will have those three this weekend, though, which will help compensate for injuries to Eddie Robinson, Wade Barrett and Craig Waibel - all defenders who have been ruled out.
L.A. will be without Landon Donovan, who is also with the U.S. in South Africa, and defenders Sean Franklin and Yohance Marshall, who are out injured.
L.A. has played without Donovan for the last two matches, and the Galaxy have struggled with two straight losses. Donovan will return next month, but goalie Donovan Ricketts will be lost to the Gold Cup to play for Jamaica.
Before Donovan left, the Galaxy were riding a 10-game unbeaten streak. But with Donovan out and Eddie Lewis and Dema Kovalenko - who is doubtful this weekend - out injured last weekend, L.A. lost to the San Jose Earthquakes 2-1 to drop its second straight.
"Our team played pretty well," Los Angeles coach Bruce Arena said. "We didn't get enough clean chances, though. [San Jose] did a good job.
"We were a little suspect in our defending in the box today, and it cost us the game. Give San Jose credit. They made a couple plays and we weren't as alert as we needed to be in the early minutes of each half which resulted in goals."
Los Angeles is just 1-2-4 at home, scoring only seven goals and allowing nine. The Galaxy sit sixth in the West, one point behind Real Salt lake but in danger of slipping well behind the top four clubs. Houston is 13 away in first.
