A local man says his dog is fighting for life after it was attacked by another dog in Adams Morgan. Now he wants tougher laws in the District.

Duane Stillions was taking a late walk with his two small dogs on July Fourth at 20th Street and Wyoming Avenue when he says a pit bull lunged at them. Emma, a Shih Tzu, survived the attack, but Molly, a ten-pound Bichon Frise, is hospitalized in intensive care. Stillions says the dog bit him when he intervened. Stillions wants D.C.'s dangerous dog law strengthened to an outright ban on Pit Bulls - just like one in Prince George's County. Right now in the District, dangerous dog owners must face a judge who decides if the animal is a public health threat. too much bureaucracy for some.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion? The Pit Bull was with a dogwalker at the time.  Its owners, who live in New York, have requested a hearing.  Right now the dog is at the D.C. animal shelter.

Meantime, Molly's injuries are costing Stillions about $1,000 a day. He is considering legal action.
