Metro Offers Prince George's Students Free Bus Rides

Students in Prince George's County will get to ride Metrobuses for free this school year. Metro's Board of Directors approved the program for school-aged children Thursday.

The county is paying for the program, which is expected to cost $300,000.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion?The program is designed to help Prince George's County students get home from after-school activities.

Students will be eligible for a free bus ride weekdays from 2 p.m to 7 p.m.

Middle and high school-aged students will be asked to show a school ID card to qualify for the free rides.

The program begins August 20th - the first day of the new school year - and will run through next June.
