Students in Prince George's County will get to ride Metrobuses for free this school year.
Metro's Board of Directors approved the program for school-aged children Thursday.
The county is paying for the program, which is expected to cost $300,000.
The program is designed to help Prince George's County students get home from after-school activities.
Students will be eligible for a free bus ride weekdays from 2 p.m to 7 p.m.
Middle and high school-aged students will be asked to show a school ID card to qualify for the free rides.
The program begins August 20th - the first day of the new school year - and will run through next June.
