posted 6:00 pm Tue July 31, 2007 - LUSBY, Md.
An energy company has asked the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for permission to build a new reactor in Calvert County.
Constellation Energy Group of Baltimore has filed a partial application with the NRC for a 1,600-megawatt reactor at the Calvert Cliffs site.
The NRC says it's the first application to operate and build a new reactor that it has received in about 30 years.
Calvert Cliffs already has two reactors that were built in the 70's.
