(Sports Network) - The Colorado Avalanche signed restricted free- agent forward Wojtek Wolski to a two-year contract, the club announced Wednesday.
The 22-year-old native of Zabrze, Poland registered 18 goals and 48 points in 77 games last season, his second full NHL season.
"Wojtek is definitely part of the elite young group of players establishing themselves in the league," said Avalanche executive vice president and general manager Francois Giguere. "Therefore, we feel very strongly that he is important to the future success of our club. We've been pleased with his development at the NHL level and we expect him to be a big contributor to our team."

Drafted 21st overall by the Avalanche in 2004, Wolski has 42 goals and 62 assists in 162 career games.
