D.C. police say witnesses helped chase down a gunman Sunday following a shooting in the Adams Morgan neighborhood of Northwest.

Police say they don't know what prompted the shooting, which occurred about noon on Columbia Road outside a store. They say a man was shot in the leg and the gunman fled. Witnesses chased the suspect as police closed off 18th Street and Columbia Road along with Belmont and Kalorama roads. The man was caught at Kalorama Road and 18th Street.

The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police have charged 41-year-old Adrian Guerra with Assault with a Deadly Weapon in connection with the shooting.
