(Sports Network) - Taj McWilliams-Franklin finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, as the Washington Mystics held on for a 69-64 win over the Connecticut Sun. Nikki Blue added a team-high 13 points, while Nakia Sanford posted 11 boards and nine points for Washington, which has won two of three. The Mystics won despite making just 13 of 24 free-throw attempts and turning the ball over 17 times.

Lindsay Whalen recorded a game-high 33 points, eight boards and six assists for the Sun, who have lost three in a row. Amber Holt had 10 points, but no other Connecticut player scored more than six points.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion? Washington outscored Connecticut 23-12 in the third quarter to take a 59-46 lead into the fourth. The Sun slowly chipped away at the deficit, and with 54 seconds remaining, Whalen made a running layup to bring her team within 63-62.

But Beard answered with a jumper, McWilliams-Franklin made a technical free throw, and Washington was able to hold off Connecticut to win.
