Maryland and Prince George's County officials have reached a tentative agreement on funding for the long-troubled Prince George's Hospital Center, once a new owner is found for the facility. The parties have formally asked for a 30-day extension to a deadline established in legislation to formalize the agreement. Gov. Martin O'Malley's administration says the agreement calls for a state and county commitment of $150 million in grant support over five years, beginning in fiscal year 2011. The amount will be split between the state and the county. The state will commit an additional $24 million in capital support. The money will be used to help the hospital center if a bidding process results in the transfer of the system to a new owner.
