(Sports Network) - Lindsay Davenport and Venus Williams have withdrawn from next week's East West Bank Classic due to injuries. Davenport has withdrawn from the tournament due to a right knee injury, while Williams is sidelined with right knee tendinitis.

"I am very disappointed that I will not be able to play at this year's East West Bank Classic," Davenport said in a statement. "I always look forward to the opportunity to play so close to home, but unfortunately my knee has not completely healed at this point. It is important that I focus on recovering and work hard each day so I can return to the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour as soon as possible."

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion? Canadian Stephanie Dubois will replace Davenport, while China's Meng Yuan moves into Williams' spot. Williams hasn't played since beating sister Serena to capture her fifth Wimbledon title earlier this month.

"I have been looking forward to playing in Los Angeles where I have gotten so much support and I regret that I won't be able to participate in the East West Bank Classic this year," Williams said. "I have been receiving treatment for tendinitis in my right knee over the last several days and my medical advisors have encouraged me to allow myself an additional week to completely recover. I look forward to returning to tournament play and my plans are still intact to compete this summer at the Rogers Cup in Montreal, Olympics and U.S. Open."
