Ramirez out of lineup against Yanks with sore knee

Red Sox slugger Manny Ramirez, nursing a sore right knee, has been scratched from the team's starting lineup for Friday's game against the New York Yankees.The left fielder missed Wednesday's game in Seattle, but manager Terry Francona had said earlier that he hoped Ramirez would be able to return for the start of the Yankees series at Fenway Park.
Francona said it was the same knee that had been bothering him for awhile.
Ramirez was not immediately available for comment, but was seen in the clubhouse with a wrap around his right knee.
Kevin Youkilis will bat cleanup for Boston behind the returning David Ortiz. Jacoby Ellsbury will start in left field and hit leadoff and Coco Crisp will start in center field and bat ninth.
