WASHINGTON - After scouring neighborhoods across the city, D.C. police say they have located three children reported missing after their mother left them in the care of a relative, who was arrested.
Four-year-old Keith Dwayne Gray Jr., 2-year-old Mykia Aliyah Gray and 5-month-old Keyon Deone Gray were located at a rec center at 14th and Girard streets NW Thursday evening, police said. They were reportedly taken to a hospital for observation.
The children had last been seen Wednesday morning at their home in the 2100 block of I (Eye) Street NE, police said.
The mother told detectives she left the children with an adult family member, whom police identified as 48-year-old Toilynn Braxton. When the mother returned home, the kids, and Braxton, were gone, police said.
Investigators say Braxton was wanted on an outstanding warrant after she failed to appear in court this week. Police say she could face further charges.
