CALIFORNIA, Md. - A woman in St. Mary's County has been arrested for impersonating a police officer.
According to police, a 20-year-old man was confronted in the parking lot of a Sheetz store in California, Maryland by a woman claiming to be a police officer.
The suspect told the man to put his hand on the trunk of her car and empty his pockets. Police say that she demanded the man give his name and address, and then she chastised him about the hazards of speeding.
The suspect then told the victim that she would let him go if he purchased two packs of cigarettes from her.
The man became suspicious and called the Sheriff's Office. They arrested the woman, identified as 53-year-old Diane L. Guy of Callaway. Guy was charged with impersonating a police officer and theft under $500.
