(Sports Network) - Hungarian native Agnes Szavay rallied from a set down to beat Switzerland's Patty Schnyder for the title at the GDF Suez Grand Prix tennis tournament.
The fourth-seeded Szavay posted a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 victory for her third career WTA singles title in five finals. She hadn't won a tournament since capturing two in 2007.
Schnyder, the top seed, fell to 11-14 all-time in WTA finals. She last won in 2008 in Bali, and her best previous result this year was a semifinal loss to world No. 1 Dinara Safina in Madrid.
Sunday marked the first matchup between Schnyder and Szavay, and the victory gave the 20-year-old Monte Carlo resident a first prize of $37,000.
