(Sports Network) - Pittsburgh Steelers two-time Super Bowl- winning quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was reportedly accused of sexual assault by an employee of Harrah's Lake Tahoe hotel in Nevada.
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the civil lawsuit was filed last Friday in Washoe County, Nevada. The suit apparently also names eight employees of Harrah's that helped cover up the incident.
Roethlisberger's lawyer reportedly denied the claims.
The report states the incident stemmed from the American Century Celebrity golf tournament, where Roethlisberger was paired with Harrah's Northern Nevada president John Koster.
The woman worked as a concierge for the tournament and was later called up to provide room service for the Pittsburgh quarterback. When she arrived, apparently no room service was necessary, and Roethlisberger allegedly committed non-consensual sexual acts with the woman.
The lawsuit includes 12 claims, including assault, sexual assault and battery, false imprisonment, fraud, invasion of privacy and defamation. No criminal complaints have been filed, according to the report.
This is the first off-field issue for Roethlisberger since his much-publicized motorcycle incident in the 2006 offseason. He crashed into a van while not wearing a helmet, breaking his jaw and nose. He ended up missing the first game of the season and lost six of his first seven starts when he returned.
