(Sports Network) - Top seed Dmitry Tursunov and second- seeded Dudi Sela were among Tuesday's first-round winners at the $450,000 Indianapolis Tennis Championships.
Russian Tursunov outlasted German Michael Berrer 6-3, 2-6, 6-0 in one hour, and 36 minutes. Tursunov has had recent success in Indianapolis, winning here in '07 and finishing runner-up to Frenchman Gilles Simon last year.
Israeli Sela discarded American Vince Spadea 7-5, 6-1. Sela entered this week ranked a career-high No. 29.
Fourth-seeded Russian Igor Kunitsyn, who converted four of his six break point chances, handled Argentine Brian Dablu 6-4, 6-1. Fifth-seeded German Benjamin Becker was the other seed that advanced on Tuesday.
In a mild upset, Argentine Eduardo Schwank outlasted sixth-seeded Yen-Hsun Lu of Chinese Taipei 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Schwank snapped an 11-match skid with the victory.
American's Jesse Levine, Alex Bogomolov Jr., and Robby Ginepri were also among Tuesday's first-round winners.
