(Sports Network) - Chicago White Sox pitcher Bartolo Colon has been bitten again by the injury bug.
The right-hander was placed on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday with right elbow inflammation, less than a week after returning from a lengthy stint on the DL.
Colon had been sidelined since June 9, retroactive to June 8, with patella femoral inflammation in his left knee and was activated following Mark Buehrle's perfect game against Tampa Bay on Thursday.
The 2005 AL Cy Young Award winner earned a no-decision in Friday's 4-3 setback at Detroit after allowing three runs and six hits over seven innings.
The 36-year-old veteran is 3-6 with a 4.19 ERA in 12 starts for Chicago this season.
In a corresponding move, the White Sox purchased the contract of left-hander Randy Williams from Triple-A Charlotte. He is 3-0 with a 3.44 ERA in 33 games for Chicago's top minor league affiliate.
