Relatives Ask Hit-and-Run Driver to Come Forward

Montgomery County police and the relatives of a 17-year-old who was killed in a hit and run area asking the driver to come forward to give the family closure.
The teenager is Esai Lopez. Police say Lopez died after a silver BMW hit him on Tuesday night while he was crossing a street in Derwood. Family members are also appealing to the public for help in finding the driver if he does not come forward. They're asking witnesses to call police if they haven't yet.
Witnesses say they saw the white male driver of the car stop briefly after striking the teenager, then flee in the car. Police say they have narrowed their search to newer four-door BMWs in the 5 Series, and the car in question might have hood or windshield damage.

Family members remembered the college-bound teen as bright and working toward his dream of becoming a chef someday.
