An Ellicott City man is dead after a boating accident early Saturday morning.
Authorities say the body of 33-year-old Michael Schott was recovered about an hour and a half after the boat he was riding on hit a channel marker.
Sergeant Ken Turner of the Maryland Natural Resources Police says the accident happened around 12:50 a.m. in the Pleasure Island Cut - a small inlet near where the Back River meets the Chesapeake Bay.
Turner says the boat driver, 51-year-old William Spittel, ended up in the water along with Schott and another passenger, 34-year-old Jason Bard. Spittel and Bard were rescued, and Spittel was hospitalized with a concussion.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
Turner says Baltimore County Fire Department divers found Schott's body around 2:20 a.m.
