Group Seeks to Halt Review of Prince William County Law

Some opponents of illegal immigration are asking Prince William County officials to stop the Human Rights Commission's review of a law that could deny some county services to illegal immigrants. The Human Rights Commission has announced plans to hold 10 meetings discussing the resolution.

The leader of the commission, Phyllis Aggrey, says the commission decided to hold the meetings to learn more about the law after several people came forward with concerns.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion?She says it does not plan to bring any formal discrimination charges.

But Help Save Manassas President Greg Letiecq says the Human Rights Commission has no authority to meet to discuss the resolution.

He says the appointed commission is not allowed to review decisions by an elected body.

County Executive Craig Gerhart won't say whether he plans to stop the meetings.
