Temporary Building Ready for Displaced Market Vendors
posted 5:50 pm Sat August 11, 2007 - WASHINGTON
A temporary structure at Eastern Market is now ready to house vendors who were displaced by a fire in April.
D.C. Fire Chief Dennis Rubin says the new space is equipped with sprinkler systems and other safety features. Vendors will have the same amount of space as they did in the old structure.
Rubin says D.C. officials and council members all worked together to get the new facility up quickly. He says everyone understands that Eastern Market is a community treasure.
