Prosecutors Drop Marion Barry's Traffic Charges

D.C. council member Marion Barry won't have to show up in court for the last of his traffic charges.
Prosecutors have dropped the last traffic case against the former mayor. That mean's the trial that was scheduled to start this week won't happen.
U.S. Park Police stopped Barry on December 16th for driving too slowly. They charged him with driving an unregistered vehicle and misuse of temporary tags.
He and his lawyers contested the charges, saying he had done nothing wrong. The D.C. attorney general's office filed court papers saying they don't want to go forward with the charges.
It's the second court victory for Barry this summer. In June, he was acquitted of drunken driving and other charges that stemmed from a September traffic stop by Secret Service near the White House.
But Barry is still on three years' probation for tax-related offenses.
