A woman is recovering after a violent stabbing in southeast.

The 27-year old woman was working as a security guard at Ferebee-Hope Elementary School in the 3800 block of Eighth Street. D.C. police say a man she knew approached her and stabbed her 16 times. Police are searching for the suspect who ran from the building after the attack.

The University of the District of Columbia rents out the elementary school.

According to the story, this was a guy she knew; wonder if it was a boyfriend, or? As far as the police - they're between a rock and a hard place! When something like this happens, everyone asks, "why aren't the police DOING something?" However, let the police arrest someone or, God forbid, shoot a criminal, then everyones' on their case about police brutality, and so on. Too, if the police DO arrest someone, our lovely court system puts the bad guys right back out on the streets!
