Prince Georges County planners are asking the county to build 20 fire stations in the next 10 years.
A report released this week by the countys planning department recommends building 14 new stations and replacing six existing ones to serve areas outside of the recommended response times.
The report also recommends two additional police stations, moves for two existing stations and renovations to the police headquarters and special operations buildings.

It suggests renovations or replacements of 15 other fire stations, construction of a new Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Park Police headquarters, a new sheriff's headquarters, a public safety training center, and expansion and renovations of various Department of Corrections buildings.
County officials say a new fire station costs about $5 million and a new police station is roughly $8 million.
