Some D.C. animal lovers are getting disappointing news, the only Nile Hippopotamus at the National Zoo is looking for a new home.

Twenty-seven-year-old Happy, weighs in between six and 7,000 pounds, enjoys spending time under water, and is looking for new roommates.

The National Zoo is searching for another zoo to take him in so they can make room to expand the Asian Elephant exhibit.

Happy's keeper, John Taylor, has been working with Happy for almost half his life. He says he is very sad to see him go. Over the years, the two have grown so close. Happy even allowed John to do his dental work, without any restraints or medication.

While some zoo visitors are un-happy about the hippo's departure, the zoo says it's not uncommon to move animals to ensure they have the best environments both physically and socially.
