Montgomery County (web|news) Police are hoping surveillance video will help nab suspects involved in an ATM theft ring, after it was discovered at a Bank of America on Rockville Pike.

Sources tell ABC 7/NewsChannel 8 at least eight different banks in the Bethesda and Silver Spring area have been targeted in the last month and a half. There is reason to believe an organized crime group may be to blame.

"They get all your information. They know everything about you," says Rockville resident Waverly Henderson.

According to police, the latest incident occurred Saturday around 6 p.m. A customer at the Bank of America on Rockville Pike noticed the light fixture for the ATM lying on the counter with this small camera taped to the inside.

Bank customer Benjamin Taltre says, "Looks like they k now their electronics." Another customer, Antony Rattler is surprised. "It's pretty amazing people can do stuff like that."

Still photos from the bank's security system clearly captured the three brazen men approach the indoor ATM and install the small video camera. Police say the men also rigged the machine with a skimming device used to read all credit card and account information stored electronically. "We found that the device was in place for at least four hours. The banks have been notified and the banks are currently trying to identify any customers that may have been affected by this," says Officer Rodney Barnes.

"I think that's pretty scary. I would have hate to used it when they were actually filming my pin number," says Rockville resident

Samantha Brooke.

Customers are shocked to hear about the latest ATM theft scheme. Rockville resident Penny Doman says this is exactly why she only makes drive-through deposits. "I don't trust ATMs. They're simply machines."

Police are looking for at least three suspects. The other banks involved in the scheme include Wachovia, BB&T and two Chevy Chase branches. Sources tell ABC 7/NewsChannel 8's John Gonzales the thieves have made off with $60,000 so far.
