Some gun rights advocates in the District of Columbia have formed a lobbying group to push for less gun control in the city. Information from: The Washington Times.
About a dozen residents have pledged their support to Capital Gun Owners, an advocacy and education group headed by northwest Washington resident Amy McVey.
McVey was the first D.C. resident to register a handgun after the city's 32-year-old ban on handguns was struck down by the Supreme Court in June.
McVey says the group will lobby for less gun control and provide residents with gun-education resources as more of them seek to own firearms.
The group's formation comes as the city faces a federal lawsuit over its new gun-control laws. The House also is expected to vote on a bill next month that would end the city's gun restrictions.
