(Sports Network) - American Diana Lopez was knocked from the taekwondo tournament in the quarterfinals of the women's 57-kilogram Thursday at the Beijing Olympics.
Lopez won her opening round match against Thailand's Chonnapas Premwaew, 2-0, to advance to the eight-competitor quarterfinals. But she was stopped in a 3-1 loss to Turkey's Azize Tanrikulu.
"I thought I put pressure on her the whole time and she was a little scrappy, but I stayed to my game," said Lopez. "She was falling down here and there. But that's the name of the game. That's taekwondo."

Lopez, 24, is the younger sister of Mark and Steven Lopez, who are both competing on the men's side. Mark made it through to the semifinals of the 68 kg weight class on Thursday while his sister was competing.
"I am just here with Mark and I will watch him play and see what happens," Diana Lopez said.
Steven Lopez, the oldest brother and a two-time defending Olympic champion, will begin fighting in the men's 80 kg class on Friday. He has not lost a fight in five years.
