Loudoun County Household Income Highest Nationwide

Loudoun County (web|news) residents had the highest median household income in the nation last year. According to U.S. Census Bureau data released Tuesday, the median income in Loudoun in 2007 topped at $107,207 - the highest in the country. The ranking used to belong to Fairfax County (web|news), which fell into second place with a median income of $105,241. Maryland's Howard County took the No. 3 spot at $101,672. Ten Washington-area counties ranked in the top 20 for highest median incomes nationwide. The region has the second-highest median household income in the country. At $83,200, it is 64 percent above the national average of $50,740. Information from: WTOP-FM

And this surprises anyone? There are many private/govt contract companies in the Sterling/Dulles/Reston/ Chantilly/Tysons area of that county. Most of us make $50K plus annually and are married to spouses that make the same.
