(Sports Network) - Defensive end Derrick Harvey ended his 33-day holdout on Wednesday, and has agreed to a deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars that could reportedly be worth more than $33 million. Harvey was the last rookie holdout in the NFL. "I'm pleased to have Derrick signed and have these contract negotiations behind us," said Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver. "This was a long and challenging process for the player and for the team. This was a good example of the problem commissioner (Roger) Goodell has cited with the lack of a rookie pay scale. We're all happy that Derrick can now focus on getting on the field, being a Jaguar and contributing to this team."

The Florida Times-Union reported on its web site on Wednesday morning that Harvey and the Jags had agreed on a contract worth $17.175 million in guaranteed money that, including incentives and escalators, could reach $33.4 million.

According to the paper the last details that held up the contract involved playing time incentives, which the Jaguars downscaled from playing 70 percent of the team's defensive snaps to a range of 55 percent to 75 percent in order for Harvey to earn the incentives.

"I'm relieved to have the contract done and I'm excited to join my teammates," Harvey said. "I allowed my agent to do his job and represent me and, in the end, it was so important for me to get this wrapped up so I could get here and get started."

The Jaguars traded up to the No. 8 spot in the draft to take Harvey, a 6- foot-5, 271-pound defensive end out of Florida. Jacksonville had to deal the 26th overall pick, two third-round picks and a fourth-rounder to get the eighth selection from Baltimore.

A Greenbelt, Maryland native, Harvey recorded 8 1/2 sacks in his junior year with the Gators, and had 20 1/2 in his three seasons. Harvey will join the team for its trip to Washington for Thursday night's preseason finale against the Redskins (web|news) .

"We welcome Derrick and will work hard to get him up to speed as quickly as possible," head coach Jack Del Rio said. "I know Derrick has been anxious to get here. It's good for him and also for us to have this done as we finish up the preseason and prepare to start the season."
