(Sports Network) - Rebekkah Brunson scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds, as the Sacramento Monarchs downed the Los Angeles Sparks, 85-79, at Staples Center.
Nicole Powell added 18 points for the Monarchs, who have won two in a row. Ticha Penicheiro finished with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Kara Lawson and Hamchetou Maiga-Ba had 12 and 11 points, respectively, off the bench for the victors.
Lisa Leslie, who blocked her 800th career shot in the first frame, poured in a game-high 25 points and pulled down five boards for the Sparks, who have lost two in a row. Tina Thompson had 12 points, while Candace Parker ended with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Noelle Quinn added 13 points off the bench.
Sacramento shot 53.2 percent from the field, while Los Angeles hit 41.8 percent of its shots.
