RESTON, Va. - A town hall meeting on health care reform in Reston erupted into a fierce face-off Tuesday night. The issue roiling Congress pitted supporters and opponents against each other.
Hosted by Congressman Jim Moran, D-Va., the local meeting drew a rowdy crowd of people with mixed opinions about President Obama's proposed health care plan to Reston High School's gymnasium.
Despite the crowd's outbursts of cheers and condemnations, Congressman Moran managed to speak words of support for the proposed health care reform. He also addressed his opponents about what he claims are myths.
With those words, opponents of health care reform sprang to their feet -- turning the town hall meeting into something close to a brawl. Police escorted several people deemed too disruptive out of the auditorium.
"I don't think our health care system should be built around a middle man -- namely the insurance company," said Brendan Martin, an Arlington resident.
"The health plan stinks and it's bankrupting the country," said Victor Costa, an Alexandria

Some opponents said the proposed plan will drive the country into bankruptcy and down the road to socialism.
