WASHINGTON - D.C. police officials have identified the man killed in a shoot-out in Northwest D.C. that left three others wounded on Monday night.
Authorities say Michael Harris, 24, of the 4000 block of 4th Street, NW was fatally shot in a backyard around 6:26 p.m.
Police aren't releasing many details about the incident but will say that the gunfire erupted near an alley resulting in three injuries and Harris' death.
Micheal Harris' aunt says she fears that an ongoing feud may have sparked the shooting.
Sisters Shebba Blakeney and Brenda Williams grew up just a block from the crime scene. The normally quiet street is now marked with unsettling reminders.
"It's getting worse so we need help," said Blakeney.
"It's very, very horrifying," added Williams. "I've never in my life since I was born witnessed [anything] like this."
A relative of Harris told ABC 7 News the victims were all friends and were just hanging out when the violence erupted.
Community activist Ron Moten with Peaceoholics believes the city isn't doing enough to halt a steady, heartbreaking stream of violence.
"And we [have to] get the community to stand up. But we also have to support these young people and these communities where all these shootings are happening. If you don't do that, you are [going to] keep seeing the same thing over and over again," he said.
Moten says one of the victims just got a job through a community organization that is trying to decrease crime in D.C.
At this time, the person responsible for the shootings remains at large.
Police are offering at $25,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of any persons involved in the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing.
