Fatal Crash Closes Route 50 in Trappe, MD

The University of Maryland, Eastern Shore has confirmed that a woman killed in a five-vehicle accident in Talbot County was a student at the university. University officials tell WBOC-TV that UMES President Thelma Thompson is planning to issue a statement later in the day.

The accident happened about 9 p.m. Monday night on U.S. Route 50 near Trappe. State police say an eastbound vehicle crossed the center line into the westbound lanes, causing the collisions.

The crash happened as Labor Day travelers were returning from the beach. The highway was closed in both directions for hours and traffic was detoured.

Eboy, are you familiar with reconstruction of a fatal accident? If not then shut up. I agree it is a major pain in the neck but they have their jobs to do and I don't believe I recall seeing the police being interviewed in the middle of a fatal accident scene. Shame on you - this is another terrible tragedy. The girls were in the car that crossed the line - probably returning to UMES campus. Too sad. Then the one on 404 on Friday where the husband and son were killed and the wife is in critical condition due to a dump truck hitting them in the rear at a light. That lady is a teacher at my grandson's school - one just never knows does one. I just got home from Preston MD and I thank God for a safe trip over and back.
