Sen. Cardin to Address Aid for College Students

Senator Ben Cardin will be on the Eastern Shore Tuesday to talk with college students about financial aid.
The Democrat is meeting with students from the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore, in Princess Anne. He'll talk about recent Senate passage of a bill to increase student aid and reform the student loan industry.
In July, the Senate unanimously passed a bill aimed at streamlining the financial aid process by creating a new, simplified financial aid application form.
The Senate bill spells out that banks cannot provide gifts to college financial aid officials or take them on expense-paid trips.
Banks have sometimes doled out such perks in an effort to get on schools' preferred lender lists.
The House has passed a similar bill.
