Police Look for Links Between Would-Be Abductor and Intruder

Fairfax County Police are looking into possible connections between the case of a 10-year-old girl who awoke Tuesday to find an intruder in her bedroom and the attempted abduction of a 14-year-old girl last week. The girl told investigators she woke up around 2:45 a.m. to find a stranger in her room. She ran to her parents' bedroom. They told police the intruder walked down the driveway of the home located on Virginia Avenue in Falls Church and fled.
He was described as a man in his twenties with a ponytail.
That is similar to the description of the man who grabbed a 14-year-old girl last Tuesday in the Pimmit Hills area of Fairfax County.
Investigators say the girl was walking alone about two p.m. last Tuesday when a man in a dark blue car drove up alongside her and began talking to her. The man asked if he could drive her to school. When she refused, the driver reached out, grabbed her, and tried to pull her into the car.
The victim was able to break free when the suspect was apparently scared off by a passing motorist.
She ran to the school and immediately notified authorities. She was not hurt.
Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS8477 or Fairfax County Police at 703-691-2131.
