O'Malley: Higher, Broader Sales Tax Likely
posted 5:27 am Fri September 07, 2007 - Baltimore, MD.
Governor Martin O'Malley expects a higher and broader sales tax will be needed to cover part of the state's projected budget shortfall. Although he isn't giving the specifics, he said in an interview Thursday on WYPR-FM that the tax will likely increase and be expanded to cover services that are now excluded.

State Senate President Thomas "Mike" Miller says he agrees with O'Malley on the sales tax.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion?Past efforts to apply to tax to those services have been defeated by strong lobbying efforts in the state capital.

It's good to hear the Democrat matra - raise taxes. You elected him. Now pay up and no whining about higher taxes. This is just one state. I hope the rest of you learn that if you elect a Democrat to the White House, you will be paying higher taxes to take care of illegal immigrants and those who expect the government to take care of them for life.
