I am so happy he was found and he'll be okay. I have said time and time again that the county needs to do some walk throughs when it comes to the side of the road.

I am happy for this family that this young man was found ALIVE. It is every parents worse nightmare. I agree that a more thorough search should have been conducted.

Also parents need to be aware that if you are looking for your child in situations like this, please try calling the cellphone company where your child has cell service with. I know with ceratin cell carriers they can actually pick up a signal where that person may be because the cell towers pick up signals from that phone. This is how they found the young lady who was missing from Ft. Washington. Her cell signal was picked up in Charles County in a particular area and when they narrowed down her location and conducted a search of that area, they later located her body.

I don't know if PG County under utilize their county sources or if they are short staffed with police and EMS personnel but more needs to be done for the county. Taxpayers are not getting their money's worth. And this is strange when you have more county officers milking the county government payroll with overtime. What are they securing? It sure ain't the citizens.

First let us thank God that Julian is alive and back in his mother & father's loving arms. This story could have had a much more tragic ending. From my understanding (from a reliable source) that area was searched by not only the police but also friends and family. As his own father said, he had driven by the same area several time and didn't know his son was there. Unfortunately he was missed by everyone, but found by two people who cared enough to stop and help him. So many times we criticise what could have or should have been done. Instead of pointing the blame why not come up with more constructive critisim to help our city, county & state police do a better job in serving our community. When the police have citizen meetings, attend them. It is a joint effort by citizens, police and politicians to make or county a better place. What happen to Julian should not only be looked at from a search effort point of view but also the educating driver safety of young new drivers. We have to look at how Julian got down in that revine and how to prevent any other motorist from suffering the same fate. There is a much bigger picture here than the blame game. Lets continue to pray for a speedy recovery for Julian and peace to the family and friends.

Mark - I think you are way out of line. No one found him until he crawled up to the side of the road. If you are so highly critical of our police dept then why don't you just move. Be thankful he is alive and supposedly will be well and that is it. Many people drive that route every day and again I say no one saw him until he got to the side of the road.

To the person about the cell phone - I thought his gril friend said he was not answering his cell phone. Perhaps he was not in a condition to get to or use the phone. Yes, for emergencies they are great but other than that I wish people would choke on them.

I am glad he is OK and I really was concerned for his safety.

Stories like this make me even more sure that no driver should go out without a working cell phone on his/her person, so that if something like this happens, they can call for help. It would be a lot easier (and faster) to make a phone call then to pry open a jammed car door and drag your injured body up a hill to the road. He could have told emergency workers exactly where to find him.

I find it very refreshing to hear a positive - feel good - story in the news about a african american brother. I'm sure many thought he was involved in nefarious activity. Praise the Lord he is alive and well, just a little disshoveled.

When I heard the news yesterday of him being located I felt a sense of overwhelming joy and began to cry, I felt as if he was my little brother. We need not worry about how he survived that long, hot week, but that GOD was not quite ready for him. GOD BLESS YOU JULIAN AND YOUR FAMILY.

Thank GOD he was able to get out of the car and get help. God was with him and I'm sure his parents prayers were answered. This is truely a miracle!

I have to wonder if the Park Police were notified of the missing person report, but just because that's their jurisdiction doesn't prevent PG from driving through there and looking. I saw where the car was and I can't believe no one saw it there, and I wonder how many people did see it and didn't think to question why a car is laying there upside down.

MiaJemell
Thank God they found him! That was truely a blessing that he was able to survive so long! I hate to say it but I absolutely agree with Mark on this because it SHOULD NOT have taken a week to find this young man. He should have BEEN found! Powder mill is a very common route taken to travel between 197 and route 1. The search should have started there!

COMMON-SENSE
Well Mark it is obvious from your post that you personally don't care for Julian or you have checked that same route and found him one week ago. It's also obvious that you have no idea of a Police Departments role in a "non critical" missing person case. I guess his father who stated he drove that same route many times was not looking for his son or he would have found him earlier. Do some research before you criticize and stick to the story. Bash the Police when it is warranted, and say a prayer for Julian.

Alfredo
Mark, that road is patrolled by the U.S. Park Police.

Wowzer
How wonderful for him and his family that he was found and will be ok.

I would like to make a comment about the poor handling of the missing Bowie State University student, Julian McCormick. Is it possible for the PG county police department to prove any more how incompetent and in effective they are? First we hear every year the between 10,000 and 15,000 cars are stolen in our country and how 200 plus people are shot to death in our streets. Now this very disturbing case. From day one it was known the Julian McCormick left Bowie State, on Rt 197, to go to the University of Maryland, on Rt1, to pick up his girl friend?s car. What road connects Rt 197 and Rt 1? Well it is Powder Mill Road, the very road Julian McCormick was found near death on the side of the road by a passer by, not the PG county or Bowie police. It is getting tiring to hear about the incompetence of this police force and its leadership. Crime is rampant and they prove on a daily basis that they are not up to the job. Now we hear this case, which prove they are not up to keeping the citizens of this county safe either. Yet the top county executive, Jackson, refuses to make any change. Julian McCormick should have been found the first day he was reported lost. The PG county police should have been all over Powder Mill Road. Why didn?t they find him? It appears that they were clueless on how to handle a missing person. We see this often by the open murder cases which they can not solve. Some one needs to go to the Sate and ask for help. Our citizens are dieing and the PG county police can not help us!

Glad he was found alive and in reasonable condition...

Well Praise The Lord. I sure hope it is this young man. I hope he will be ok.
