Authorities in Fairfax and Loudoun counties are seeking the public's help in finding the mother of a newborn baby whose body was found in a trash truck. Garbage collectors made the horrific discovery this morning in Great Falls as they were transferring trash from one truck to a larger one.

The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office says the baby appeared to be full-term boy and showed no obvious signs of trauma. Investigators are awaiting the final results of an autopsy.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion? The baby is believed to come from the Sterling area, though the refuse company made some stops in Great Falls too.

Authorities say they are concerned about the health of the mother.

There are safer ways to give up an unwanted child....I believe they are called Safe Havens. What about giving your child up to an adoption agency or leaving it at a church, fire station, hospital....better than a dumpster. I completely agree with Wowser - how come it's always the mother the authorities look for and never the dad??? I know why, I just think it's very unfair.
