A man riding his bike in downtown Washington is dead after he was struck by a sport utility vehicle Sunday morning.
It happened about 10 a.m. at 14th and K streets. D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Alan Etter says the man was killed almost instantly when he was struck. Rescuers did CPR on the scene, but the man could not be revived.
Etter says the man was in his 40s. Police are investigating, and Etter says the driver of the SUV stayed on the scene.
Police spokesman Sergeant Joe Gentile says the driver was 18-year-old Carlos Bayona, of D.C.
It wasn't immediately clear whether the bicyclist had the right of way. Gentile says the bicyclist was in the cross walk at the time.
