Police Dog Bitten by Snake During Burglary Investigation

Prince William County police say a K-9 dog investigating a store burglary in Manassas was bitten by a poisonous snake.  

It happened Monday morning  around 1:00 a.m. at La Bodega, a convenience store on the 7500 block of Centreville Road in Manassas. Police say "Koda" was assisting a police officer when he was bitten by a copperhead snake while searching the surrounding area for the burglary suspects.

ABC 7 News myTAKE - What's Your Opinion?Koda was transported to a local veterinarian hospital and was treated for the bite. 

Officials say the K-9 will be temporarily off duty and is expected to make a full recovery.

Police are still searching for the suspects.
