Mystery Substance Found at Vietnam Veterans Memorial
   posted 5:43 am Wed September 12, 2007 - Washington
National Park Service officials say they're unsure if an oily substance found on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial was the result of vandalism or an accident.

The substance along the paving stones and the bottom of some of the panels was reported Friday. Park Service spokesman Bill Line says cleaning crews worked over the weekend to remove the substance, but it's still unclear what it was. He says it's premature to speculate on whether it was intentional.
