Yeah, that could be a deal breaker.

But really now, people do not CHOOSE to have their babies on the roadside, in the car just to get toys and clothes. She was probably scared out of her mind. Trust me, after 4 kids I KNOW, labor can sometimes just zoom right by, especially with subsequent pregnancies.

conundrum
I am quite certain my wife and I would have ZERO children if she had any risk of 187 hours of labor and I wouldn't blame her either.

noiamnotkidding
See how hard I am laughing? I meant 18 hour labors, not 187!!

I am trying to respond between laughter! OMG, labor is as different as snowflakes. Some women have 187 hour labors, then follow that with a 30 minute labor. I am sure they thought they had plenty of time to get there. I am laughing my butt off though, you guys are hilarious!

Congrats to whats-their-names!

hey wowzer

MMQC did suggest that the woman didn't know she was having a baby when she went to the bridge although I didn't see that in the story but I'm guessing MMQC might be a woman who is in a position to know.

I'm not sure that "didn't know she was about to have a baby" meant she didn't know she was pregnant but if she didn't, I'm guessing her husband probably didn't know either.

Sorry - I didn't mean to confuse you. with that.

Wowzer
OMG = you are saying she didn't even know she was pregnant?

Her husband must be very anxious to find out who the father is. No wonder he was in distress.

usually a story like this mentions the parents names, what is the baby's name?

conundrum
Ok - MMQC

I guess you are right. babies do just pop out when they darn well please and the mother has no control and evidently no warning. Mother nature is in charge and uses the full moon as the diagnostic tool.

So - It is the women who claim they suffered for hours on end that are pulling the scam on their husbands to get new diamond jewelry?

mmqc
ok-conundrum- quit being so suspect and condesending. Not everyone is looking for something and I can not help but think that one would rather have a baby just about anywhere but on a highway. Yes it happens- I know someone who gave birth on the way to the hopital within 30 minutes of water breaking, and yes, the baby did just pop out. It is a very scary experience, but nature kind of takes over. Did she want the media attention? Probably just to be left alone after an experience like that.

conundrum
coffee23 - so from the time she woke up until 9:30 she had no clue?

Aren't women in labor for hours after their water breaks?

So you are sayinhg she just suddenly popped that baby out totally unexpectedly?

Her husband couldn't have driven her over to Shady Grave hospital first thing this morning?

Women are always saying labor is so difficult and goes on for hours but then we get the ones that just pop it out in the toilet? Don't even know they are pregnant? She just had to wait until the last minute before deciding to head off to the hospital?

give us a break. we're not all idiots you know.

I smell a scam. I think she is looking for a bunch of donations from babies R us.

coffee23
To Wowzer, can she help that she went into labor? Babies come whenever they are feel they are ready. she woke up this morning and i'm having my baby on 270 today!!

wow smart guy...

"saw the father in distress"

I'd imagine the mother was in some distress also.

Nice job, school nurse.

Wowzer
That strikes me as a poor choice of location. If she didn't want to have the baby in a hospital for fear some crazed infertile woman would steal it, just stay home and get a midwife.

Seems unsanitary to have a baby on a bridge not to mention unsightly.
