Police have taken Santos Ortez Sheffey, 49, into custody in connection with the murder of 46-year-old Sharon Harvin on Monday.
Police say Sheffey is known to frequent the areas of Arlington, Prince William, Fairfax County (web|news), and Washington, D.C., but he has no fixed address.
Police believe Harvin and Sheffey knew each other prior to her murder, but the specifics of their relationship are not clear at this time.
Police also located Harvin's dark blue Kia Amanti Sunday night after finding it missing from the scene.
Harvin's body was found with multiple stab wounds at her Alexandria (web|news) home. Police said a family member found Harvin in the kitchen of her residence on Indian Run Parkway about 11:45 p.m. Monday.

An autopsy was scheduled to determine the cause of death.
Residents, while deeply troubled by the horrific act of violence, said they knew very little about the victim. They said she, her adult son and another man kept to themselves. They only hope investigators are able to learn enough about Harvin to find the person who took her life. "It's sad, not fair," said one resident.
Harvin's death is the 11th homicide in Fairfax County this year.
