A woman died from an ATV accident over the weekend at the home of Washington Redskins (web|news) lineman Chris Samuels, according to sources.

Charles County Sheriff's Department said Lashana Wilson, 24, was visiting the home of Samuels in Newburg, Md.

Officers said she started riding the ATV on the paved driveway leading to the house, swerved, lost control and struck a tree. Wilson, who was not wearing a helmet, was flown to a hospital where she died the following day.

Samuels released a statement about the death of Wilson, who was a friend of his and his girlfriend Monique. "Monique and I are devastated about the loss of our dear friend, Lashona Wilson. Lashona and Monique have been friends since childhood and over the past couple of years, I was fortunate to get to know her as well. She was an exemplary person in every way. This is a very difficult time for all of us."

Sources tell ABC 7/NewsChannel 8 there was a family gathering at the Samuels home at the time of the accident.
