(Sports Network) - The Colorado Rapids traded veteran forward Herculez Gomez to Kansas City in exchange for the Wizards' natural fourth round pick in the 2009 MLS SuperDraft, a first round pick in the 2009 MLS Supplemental Draft and allocation money, the Major League Soccer clubs announced Wednesday.
"Herculez Gomez is a talented, hardworking and passionate player who is capable of scoring quality goals," Wizards Technical Director Peter Vermes said. "He has the ability to play at forward or in midfield and help bolster our attack. Gomez is a young player who already has a lot of experience and will help us both this season and in the future."
Gomez, 26, appeared in 37 games for the Rapids during the past two seasons since coming to Colorado in December of 2006 following three seasons with the Los Angeles Galaxy. While with the Rapids, he scored six goals and tallied three assists.
