(Sports Network) - U.S. Open quarterfinalist Flavia Pennetta and fourth-seeded Russian Nadia Petrova were among Tuesday's opening- round winners at the $225,000 Commonwealth Bank Tennis Classic.
The third-seeded Pennetta, of Italy, handled American Vania King 7-6 (9-7), 6-1, while Petrova pasted Japan's Aiko Nakamura 6-3, 6-1 on the hardcourts at the beautiful Grand Hyatt Bali.
One other seed moved on, while another exited the draw on Day 2, as seventh- seeded Italian Sara Errani erased South African qualifier Natalie Grandin 6-2, 6-1 and American veteran Jill Craybas knocked out eighth-seeded Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak 3-6, 6-3, 6-2.

In other first-round play, Italian Tathiana Garbin got past Hungarian Melinda Czink 6-2, 7-6 (7-3); Russian Anastasia Rodionova topped Ukrainian Julia Vakulenko 6-2, 3-0, retired; Ukrainian qualifier Olga Savchuk shut down Russian Alla Kudryavtseva 7-5, 6-2; and Taipei's Yung-Jan Chan charged past Russian Vasilisa Bardina 6-2, 6-1. Vakulenko quit against Rodionova due to a right wrist injury. Savchuk is rewarded with a second-rounder against top- seeded Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia.
Hantuchova was last year's runner-up here to American Lindsay Davenport.
